Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement

Thank you for your interest in the rigorous academic programming of Advanced Placement (AP).  Students can earn college credit if their scores meet the individual college or university criteria.  The testing period varies from year to year, but it is typically the first two weeks in May.  For a calendar of tests for this year, visit college board's web site .  Be sure you are looking at the appropriate year.

AP testing is given off site to avoid disruptions.  We have used Hillside Community Church (1440 68th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508 ) as a testing site.  It is just a few blocks from the high school, so students could walk to the testing site if necessary.

The cost of AP exams for 2022-23 is $97, however, those students who qualify for free or reduced lunch under the federal guidelines for the school lunch program will receive a reduced rate of $35.   Whichever rate is applicable to your situation, an AP class could potentially be substituted for a college class, which would cost in the neighborhood of $1000.  For more information about local tuition rates, please visit http://www.collegecalc.org/lists/michigan/most-expensive-in-state-tuition/?view=all.

For more detailed information about each AP class offered at EKHS, please visit our AP ledger , available at the College Board website.  East Kentwood's College Board ID code is 231717.

The AP Testing coordinator at East Kentwood High School is Yara Barbosa.  If you have questions or concerns about AP testing, please contact her at Yara.Barbosa@kentwoodps.org or at 616-698-6700 ext. 42637.
