East Kentwood National Honor Society

Why Should YOU Join NHS?

East Kentwood’s National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization that prides itself on helping others throughout the community, improving our school, and fostering relationships between students. If you have been selected to take part in NHS this year, it means that you represent the top students, academically, that East Kentwood has to offer. For juniors and seniors with a 3.6 GPA or higher, we welcome and encourage you to take part in this beneficial organization.

East Kentwood NHS students partake in volunteer projects throughout West Michigan. This year some of our many events include serving meals at Gilda’s club, packaging food at Kids’ Food Basket, and participating in service days around Kentwood. These opportunities not only allow us to assist people in our community, but they also let others see the goodness that is EKHS! It is important to us to give back to our school system by working at elementary carnivals, helping teachers in their classrooms, and hosting fundraisers to support our EL program. By joining NHS, students make a positive change in our community by dedicating time each semester, working alongside a community that cares about and values service.

Being a part of NHS doesn’t only change our lives, but it also changes the life of those around us, leaving our community better than we first found it. We look forward to this amazing school year and to the positive impact that our NHS will have in our community.

5 Reasons to Join NHS

  1. Every time we volunteer, we have the opportunity to make someone’s day brighter. Never underestimate the quiet power of good-will.

  2. Joining NHS allows students to spend time with classmates that are open to new learning and assistance opportunities in our community.

  3. NHS allows students more than academics and athletics: being helpful community members adds value to the high school experience.

  4. Participating in NHS is a powerful addition to college applications. Universities know that only the most successful and dedicated students partake in NHS.

  5. Spreading goodwill in our community is the bedrock of what we do, and being a part of that is significant.
