Entry and adult supervision

Parents required in the pool with non-swimmers

Children that are unable to pass a swim test must have a parent or other guardian (above 18yrs old)  in the water with the child.  See details about swim test policy in the swim test section of the policy page.

0-2 yrs old -free entry with paying adult. Must be supervised with adult in the water within arms reach at all times, even with floatation. Ages 3+ must pay entry fee or have a valid family membership.

12 & Under - parent or other 18+ adult guardian must accompany the child (or children) on the pool deck, even if all youth visitors are able to pass the swim test.  Parent must pay drop-in entry fee or be paying member and be on pool deck during the duration of the time the children are swimming. If any 12&under child is unable to pass the swim test, then a parent or other 18+ adult guardian will be required to be in the water with them throughout the duration of the time the child is swimming.

13-15 yrs old -
parent or other 18+ adult guardian must accompany the child for check-in at the pool office and confirm child age. If child has passed or can pass a swim test, the parent must be in the high school building (may not leave the high school grounds), but does not have to pay and does not have to be on deck. (example, may wait in the lobby or watch from the stands). This  child customer MUST have an emergency contact on file if the adult is waiting outside of the pool area and not paying for entry. If any 13-15 child is unable to pass the swim test, then a parent or other 18+ adult guardian will be required to be on the pool deck with them throughout the duration of the time the child is swimming, assuming the child is tall enough to be in the warm pool on their own.  This teen will not be able to use the deep pool without passing the swim test.

16+ yrs old -
parent or other 18+ adult guardian is not required to be present with the youth, but this youth must present an ID to confirm age. If any 16-18 yr old is suspected of being unable to swim, they may be asked to perform a swim test to be in the competition pool.  If this person is unable to pass the swim test, then they may remain at the aquatic center, but will be restricted to only using the warm pool, if it is open.

Swim Testing

Beginning in August for Open Swims

The aquatic center will now provide swim testing to visitors of Open Swim.  A swim test will be ran in the competition pool next to the bulkhead. A swim test consists of:

-jumping into the pool feet first

-returning to the surface and treading in place for three seconds

-leveling off and swimming on their stomach 25 yards to the opposite side of the pool without touching the lane line, bulkhead or the bottom of the pool

-If they pass the swim test, they will get a wristband for the remainder of the open swim

Record of Swim Test

If a swimmer passes a swim test, we will record the successful swim test on the child's customer account, and every visit after they will get a wristband at entry.
