Vocal Music

Through performance-based courses, Kentwood students build strong vocal technique, develop music literacy, and discover a lifelong appreciation for the art of singing. Choir members regularly perform in concerts, musicals, and community events, and they travel to festivals and competitions where they consistently earn top ratings—contributing to the district’s proud tradition of musical excellence.

Vocal music education nurtures confidence, creativity, and collaboration. Students gain skills that extend far beyond the stage—leadership, teamwork, and a sense of belonging that enrich every aspect of life.

Students are first introduced to vocal music in elementary school. Beginning in middle school, they may choose vocal music as part of their schedule and take part in fully staged musicals, building both performance skills and stage experience. These opportunities expand at the high school level, where singers may participate in a variety of ensembles, including:

  • Varsity Voices

  • Chamber Singers

  • Women’s Ensemble

  • Chorale

  • Concert Choir

  • Ninth Grade Men’s Choir

  • Ninth Grade Women’s Choir

Every student with a passion for music has a place in Kentwood’s choirs, where their voice is heard, celebrated, and developed to its fullest.
