Band Performance Groups

Kentwood Public Schools introduces students to formal instrumental music groups beginning in the 6th grade.  Each of Kentwood's three middle schools offer band programs in grades six, seven and eight.

After leaving middle school, our band music students have opportunities to perform in numerous groups as they progress in their high school years.  Those groups are:

  • Symphonic Wind Ensemble 
  • Symphonic Band
  • Concert Band
  • Freshman Band 
  • Falcon Marching Band (comprised of students from each of the four above bands)
  • Jazz Ensemble I
  • Jazz Ensemble II 
Additionally, various small chamber ensembles, which appear throughout the year, are evaluated at the solo and ensemble festival.
 
For those interested in extra-curricular activities Pep Bands play at various sporting events and the East Kentwood Musical features a full Pit Orchestra open to all students by try-out.
