Online Learning

Dear Parent/Guardian and Student,

This letter is to inform you of an opportunity that the Kentwood Public School District provides to students in grades 6-12. Over the past several years, we have offered a "blended learning" class for students taking Algebra 1, Geometry or Algebra 2. The blended learning combines instruction led by a Michigan certified teacher with independent student learning on the computer. These blended learning options will continue to be available to students. The district also provides students with 100% online learning options. These are classes where all student learning is done independently on a computer and a Kentwood staff member is available to assist students when needed. We will continue to expand our online learning options over the coming years.

We are excited to expand the ways we deliver an education to student and will continue to focus on meeting the needs of our students and our community. These two learning options involve a significant amount of independent learning. Our experience with this has shown that some students thrive in this type of learning environment while many students struggle without the direct teacher involvement that comes in a traditional classroom environment. If you or your student are interested in exploring blended learning or online learning options, please contact the Kentwood Public Schools Instruction Office (616-455-0085) or your middle or high school guidance office. We would love to discuss with you how to best meet your learning needs or the needs of your student.

Thank you,

Evan Hordyk
