Facilities and Operations
The Facilities and Operations Department at Kentwood Public Schools is directly responsible for the maintenance, design and operation of the 22 school facilities. This encompasses approximately 415 acres of land with more than 1.3 million-sq. ft. of building space to maintain. Most all of the up-keep of these buildings is done "in-house."
The facilities include: 11 Elementary Schools, 3 Middle Schools, 1 Freshman Campus, 1 High School (Community Pool, Fine Arts Auditorium, Baseball, Softball, Soccer and Practice Football Fields) Ice Arena, Pat Patterson Athletic Complex located behind Crestwood Middle School, Transportation, Alternative Education, Adult Education, Administrative Offices and Plant Services Building.
The department employs more than 70 people, consisting of Maintenance, Grounds, Custodians, Clerical Support Staff and Administration. Most staff members work second shift during the school year, along with some employees who work third shift.
Facilities and Operations Deptartment continues to maintain Kentwood's District-Wide Facilities to the highest standards, striving to save energy and operating dollars wherever possible. Facilities and Operations remains confident of its ability to make the facilities second to none in the greater Grand Rapids area. Our staff takes pride in their ability to provide excellent customer service to students, residents and visitors of KPS.
