Readiness Pre-School 

What Type of Program Do We Offer?
The Michigan School Readiness Program, a FREE preschool program for 4 year olds who qualify.

  1. Morning or afternoon sessions, Monday – Thursday
  2. Caring, certified teachers and teacher assistants trained in Early Childhood Education
  3. Staff/student Ratio – 1:8
  4. Parent Activities
  5. Field Trips
  6. Nutritious Snacks
  7. Licensed Classrooms
  8. Programs at various Elementary buildings.

About The Program
The Readiness Program meets 2 ½ hours per day, four days a week (M-TH), with morning or afternoon sessions.  Transportation is NOT included at this time.  The program is licensed and staffed by experienced teachers certified in early childhood education.  The children are stimulated and encouraged in carefully planned activities that will allow for development t their own rate.  This program offers outreach to families through home visits, workshops and participation in the classroom.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Readiness Preschool program, the child must be four years old before December 1 of the year the child is applying. 

The family must also meet two of  25 risk factors.  Information on eligibility and prioritzation guidelines may be found by accessing the following website:  www.michigan.gov/gsrp

Program Details:
4 year-old Preschool (30 weeks) FREE
Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 8:30-11:30a.m. or 12:30-3:30.  Classes held at the Hamilton Early Childhood Education Center located at 3303 Breton Rd SE, Kentwood, MI 49512.  Classes run Mid-September through Mid-May.  Children must be four years old by December 1, 2011 and toilet trained.

How Can You Enroll Your Child?

Family must reside in the Kentwood Public School District

  1. Parent/Guardian must complete enrollment application
  2. Parent/Guardian must provide child’s certified Birth Certificate.
  3. Parent/Guardian must provide proof of residence (Ex. Current rent/mortgage receipt, utility bill with name and address)
  4. Child will need a current physical and up-to-date immunization record.
