Grants
KPSEF provides assistance to Kentwood Public Schools through Educational Grants to faculty. These grants, which average a few hundred dollars each, allow teachers to develop innovative educational opportunities for their students, which otherwise might not be affordable with tight school budgets.
Kentwood's teachers have accomplished impressive things with their grants in the past. For example, a Mini-Grant has been used to fund student research aboard the DJ ANGUS, Grand Valley State University's Great Lakes Research Vessel. With another grant, 8th grade students practiced painting in oils, with the results donated to local nursing homes. Yet another grant funded a special peer-leadership education program for 5th grade students. Many other grants have been awarded.
We recognize that the fund-raising capability of individual schools can vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. As a result, certain schools' abilities to support projects for their teachers are limited. We encourage teachers from all across the Kentwood School District to apply, especially if funding for a project is limited by local resources.
Interested faculty (teachers and staff) should complete the Educational Grant application, available from your principal, or available for download below. Please be aware of application deadlines. Fall grant applications are due on or before the First Friday in November and Spring applications are due on or before the First Friday in Apil.
Applications should be turned in to your principal, or mailed to the Kentwood Public Schools Educational Office. Grant Application
